First Year Council

For First Year Islanders - By First Year Islanders. Established: 2017

The First Year Council shall consist of first year islanders working to make the first-year experience at TAMU-CC the best it can be. Within the Student Government Association, the First Year Council will work to provide leadership opportunities for first-year students, help first-year students grow as leaders, and represent the best interest of first-year students. The First Year Council is to be introduced to the Student Government Association's processes and procedures to prepare to represent the students of TAMU-CC.

The SGA Office is located in the University Center Student Involvement Center Room 218L. For issues or concerns, you may contact the SGA office at 361-825-5745.

Student Engagement Committee

The focus of the Student Engagement committee stems from providing information and relief to First Year students who are new to the Island. This committee strives to create a sense of community and inclusiveness to First Year students, while also retrieving information on how to improve this university.

The Public Relations committee is utilized to inform students on the happenings within the Student Government Association along with campus-wide initiatives and events. The primary focus of this committee is SGA TV, episodes that are created by the students in First Year Council for the student body to be more involved with TAMU-CC. 

 Student Safety Initiative

The Student Safety Initiative was formulated to give students a role in their safety while on campus. This committee helps promote the general welfare and safety of students of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi by performing routine Safety Walks to look for potential problems for students on campus.
